Live near Seattle, Chicago, or Washington, D.C.? Bring the family out for a "Hike & Seek," a cross between a nature hike and a scavenger hunt that brings families and friends together in the great outdoors for fresh air and fun!
Sponsored by the National Wildlife Federation, the three Hike & Seek events are scheduled for dates this fall in Seattle, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. What can you expect at the event?
As you check in, you'll receive a Map & Mission guidebook to get you on your way. The guidebook includes a park map, location and description of Stop & Study locations, activities, and local nature facts. As you hike along the 1- to 3-mile trail, you'll come upon Stop & Study stations staffed by a naturalist or a volunteer where you and your family will use your five senses to explore nature.
Each stop will have nature facts and outdoor lessons, as well as an opportunity to earn a badge. After your hike, you'll head back to base camp for more children's activities (like pics with Ranger Rick or a live wildlife exhibit) and snacks. There will also be awards handed out to the top honorary naturalist of the day.
Check out the Hike & Seek website to get more info on hike dates, cost of entry and locations.
