Love to bake? You could put your skills to good use and host a bake sale to help end childhood hunger.

This is the 10th anniversary of Share Our Strength's annual Bake Sale for No Kid Hungry, an effort that aims to end childhood hunger in America.

As part of the campaign, Share Our Strength is asking bakers of all ages throughout the U.S. to host a bake sale in their community to raise funds for No Kid Hungry. The goal for 2013 is to raise $600,000 — enough to provide 6 million meals to children in need.

Over the past 10 years, more than 1.4 million people have participated in the annual bake sale events, raising more than $9 million to feed hungry kids.

"With one in five kids in America struggling with hunger, it's more important than ever to get involved and help connect children with the food they need," said Bake Sale for No Kid Hungry Director Amy Crowell. "Bake sales are one of the simplest and most enduring fundraising ideas around. Year after year, we see growing numbers of families, kids, businesses and organizations of every kind signing up to host sales. Every item sold does more than raise vital funding; it also raises awareness about childhood hunger in America and creates new and enduring advocates."

Want to help but not sure how to get started? The Bake Sale for No Kid Hungry website includes tips such as planning checklists, templates for flyers, location and pricing advice, photography tips, how to host a virtual bake sale tips and more.

I can't think of a better reason to whip up a batch of cupcakes, can you?
