Did you know that 22,000 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer this year? I didn't.

 

Apparently, the folks at Seventh Generation didn't either. So they decided to team up with the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) to dedicate one day for women to start talking about ovarian cancer and to raise much need donations to help educate women on the signs of ovarian cancer.

 

So guess what? Today is “Let’s Talk … Period” Day, and if you log on to this website today and register your email address, Seventh Generation will make a $1 donation to the OCRF in your name. In fact, they plan to donate $22,000 today to represent the women who will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer this year.

 

Fundraisers aside, this site is really well done — with interviews from comedienne Jessica Bern and green parenting guru Dr. Alan Greene — and it's a great resource for information on ovarian cancer signs, symptoms, risk factors and prevention. The best way to prevent ovarian cancer is to make sure women know more about it.

 

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, so today is a great day to think about and talk about and even tweet about (#LetsTalkPeriod) this important issue with other women.
