It's no secret that I'm a big fan of the waste-free lunch. Reducing the waste from your kid's lunch each day keeps literally tons of trash from hitting the landfill. And it is such a great way to teach kids about the things they can do to protect the planet. And kids really get it ... even at a young age. My six year old is so proud of the fact that she doesn't generate any waste from her lunch.
In the past, we've used a small cooler and standard plastic containers to hold my daughter's lunch. I'm almost always an advocate for using items you already have over purchasing anything new. But I've always been a little concerned about the levels of BPA, lead and PVCs in all of these gently used items. So I was pretty stoked to come across the BPA/lead/PVC-free lunchboxes from Lunchsense.
All in all, I was very impressed with my daughter's Lunchsense lunchbox ... and not in the least surprised to find out that it was designed by a mom who knew there had to be a better way to make lunch for her kids. Each lunchbox comes with complete with lock and load containers, a reusable drink bottle, and an enclosed ice pack ... all free of nasty toxins. And the lunchbox itself opens up to become a placemat ... perfect for keeping your kid's lunch off of the germy cafeteria table!
