I don't know about you, but back in the day when I went to school, teachers didn't make cool snow-day announcements on YouTube. In fact, they generally didn't do anything cool at all (that I knew about.) And if we wanted to know if school was closed or delayed, we had to listen to the radio or watch for the info to come scrolling across the bottom of the TV during the morning news.
But now that there is email, texting, and websites, parents and kids don't have to go searching for snow day info; it comes to them. First there was the Bohemian Rhapsody style snow-day announcement from the principal and drama teachers at Kentucky's Stephens Elementary. Today, it's an N.C. school serving up the fun.
If you're lucky enough to go to North Carolina's Durham Academy, you not only get intel about school closings, you get served up in the form of a viral video in which your school's Headmaster and Assistant Head of School rap about how there will be no school today due to the 'Ice, Ice, Baby.' And yeah, they've got the Vanilla Ice tune streaming along.
Of course, the best part about the video is the Olympics-inspired apparel - the Headmaster dons a pair of ski goggles while his assistant wears a Sochi-inspired Team USA sweater.
