Green Kids, Mother's Day
Psst ... Mother's Day is just around the corner. Honor your Mom this Sunday, May 10, with a gift that both she and the planet will love.  Here are some great waste-free gift ideas for Mom:

Gift cards: Give mom the gift of giving with a GlobalGiving Gift Card that she can use to support a project of her choosing (such as providing baby supplies to new moms in the Bronx; supporting the use of solar energy in Kenya; or providing medical relief to earthquake victims in Peru).

E-cards: Skip the paper, save a tree and send mom your love with a free e-card from 123 Greetings.

Edibles: What mom wouldn't love to be the recipient of a yummy treat from the kitchen. Make her an indulgent chocolate cake, some hearty bran muffins, a warm loaf of bread or fancy dinner. Or invite Mom over for a cup of tea and a cookie.

Work for hire: Give your mom the gift of your time by offering to weed the garden, fix her computer, clean the kitchen or do the laundry for a day.

Flowers: Flowers are great way to show your mom how much she brightens your day. Bouquets are nice, especially if you can compost them after they've wilted. Organic Bouquets has a lovely selection of eco-bouquets and gifts for Mom.  Even better ... try planting a few of your mom's favorite flowers in the garden for a gift that lasts all year round.

GlobalGiving gift cards are a great idea. You can also find excellent gift packages on UniversalGiving.org. Give to someone in need in honor of your mother; you can choose a very targeted cause too.
