Jennifer Aniston adopts shelter dog

Less than a year after the passing of her beloved Welsh corgi-terrier mix named Norman, Jennifer Aniston has reportedly found love again by rescuing a dog from an animal shelter in Utah.

According to sources, the 42-year-old visited the Best Friends Animal Society last month and walked away with a German shepherd mix. As indicated by her holiday cards, she also made a donation to the organization.

The new mutt will no doubt make fast friends with Aniston's other pup, a white German shepherd named Dolly.

After the death of Norman last May, Aniston had his name tattooed on her ankle in tribute. "He's my baby boy," she told People magazine months before his passing. "Norman goes with me on location — I've got to take Norman."

If the adoption news holds true, Aniston will become the latest in a recent string of celebrity shelter dog adoptions by the likes of Miley Cryrus and George Clooney.

"I was looking for a dog because I hadn't had one for a while — and I wanted one that was house-trained. I'm just terrible at house-training dogs," Clooney wrote in an article for Esquire. "So I go online and see Einstein. They had a whole film about him. It was actually really sweet. You see him all beat up and s*it in the shelter, and they show how they cleaned him up. God, I love this dog. So I called and said, 'I like Einstein!'"

Every time a celeb adopts a dog they send a message to others that these little beings make the great additions to the family,
they also give good publicity to fantastic rescues like Best Friends! "Adopt don't Shop"
Congrats Jen!

Can't any of these Hollywood types do ANYTHING without having the cameras on them? Do they have to get publicity for EVERYTHING THEY DO! People adopt dogs everyday! Are they special?

I think the point is that when celebrities do something - people tend to follow. The trend is being set that adopting instead of buying is what all the "cool kids" are doing. I hope it catches on.

People like Jennifer Aniston don't inform magazines. Paparazzis follow them everywhere, ESPECIALLY in Los Angeles. So not sure why you're talking like Jennifer is the one to blame.

In this case, YES, it is special, first of all, it makes people who work their butts off feel good to see people adopt. Second, people look up to stars, she will inspire people to adopt!!! It is a WONDERFUL thing to see :)
