A few weeks ago, the local police in my small Virginia town rescued upwards of 130 dogs from a puppy mill operation. The dogs were in deplorable condition — some had barely been able to eat because the hair around their face was so thickly matted that they could not open their mouths.
It has been heartbreaking to say the least. Our entire community came together in support of our already overcrowded animal shelter while it staged the dogs until they could make their way to other rescue centers, donating money, food, toys, blankets and time.
So I was over the moon when I stumbled upon this video, and I knew the minute that I saw it that I would have to share. This is a video of Noisette — one of the dogs rescued from this very same puppy mill operation. According to the Huffington Post, Noisette was in rough shape when she was rescued: dehydrated, malnourished, and covered in fleas, dirt and feces. But her foster family has been working with her to help her try to adjust to her newfound freedom.
In the video, Noisette's foster owner lays as still as absolutely possible, waiting and hoping for this to happen. And then it did!
And her sigh of relief will bring tears to your eyes.
