It is so sad, dogs always lose. Can he move to a town close by where they can be together. Kennel life is no place for a dog.

Banning a specific breed is a particularly ridiculous solution to a problem. Pitbulls,in and of themselves, are not bad dogs. While it is true that some of the people who get them are exactly the ones who shouldn't, situations involving vicious dogs should be looked at on a case-by-case basis. There are many wonderful pits owned by responsible people who understand how to handle the breed. Maybe next, Rottweilers will be banned, or Shar Peis, or Bulldogs. I totally agree that breed banning does NOT work. I work with dogs and can tell you that ALL breeds have good and bad.

This is so sad .... People seem so hartless .... I mean think about it there are thousands of people that have pit bulls that cause no trobble and yet people judge the whole breed by the few that attack someone *sigh*

I noticed too, the city failed to offer a replacement Service Animal, etc. These Service Dogs cost an average of $10-$15k JUST to TRAIN to ADA Standards let alone time training the animal and love invested. Only to want to DESTROY it?
One wouldn't throw stacks of $100 Bills on a fire? This is tantamount to the same thing.

As a professional dog trainer and expert witness on dog behavior as well as a former Police K9 Officer, breed bans are unfair and not an effective way to handle the problem of dangerous dogs. A Pitt Bull is not a dangerous dog just because he is a Pitt Bull. And, in this case the city is violating Mr. Sak's federal rights. Please make an exception to your breed ban in Mr. Sak's case since the dog is a registered service dog.

Even though this dog should be allowed under the federal definition of a service animal, don't cloud the issue by mentioning the National Service Animal Registry. They are a for-profit scam preying on people who need service animals, but do not understand that registration is not required under the ADA.
