A new app from the creators of ResQwalk, the app that donates money to animal shelters for every mile you walk, lets you make your pet the star of his own story — and it helps rescue animals too.

Animal Tales appAnimal Tales is a free iOs app that lets you customize 16-page illustrated stories about your furry, feathered or finned friend.

Simply upload a photo of your pet, enter his or her name and sex and let the app create a one-of-a-kind tale.

There are numerous stories to choose from. One takes a look at how your pet helps you prepare for the holidays, while another examines your pet's employment prospects.

Currently, there are five different stories, and a new one will be released each week.

It's free to create as many stories as you want and share them as e-books, but the app also gives you the option of having your book printed for $12 plus shipping.

All the Animal Tales stories are written and illustrated by professional authors, and you can even add a personalized dedication on the inside of your printed or digital storybook.

Currently, Animal Tales is available only for iPhone and iPad, but ResQthreads plans to release an Android version early next year.
