Dogs herd elephants at zoo
A pair of Australian cattle dogs at the Pittsburgh Zoo prove size doesn't matter when it comes to herding. The 25-pound canines help provide a buffer zone for zoo staff working in elephant habitats by herding the giant pachyderms.
The dogs are bred to move livestock, but Major and Zeta are trained to handle elephants by charging at the animals and nipping at their feet and trunks if necessary.
