Last week, I hosted an eco-confessions carnival on The Green Parent as part of the Green Moms Carnival. There were lots of juicy confessions, as moms poured out their guilt over everything from soda to sick kids to Dutch Wonderland. One of the confessions, from Lisa at Condo Blues was about nail polish:"There’s some pretty bad stuff in nail polish and remover but I like to wear it to feel pretty and girly. I’m afraid if I have painted toenails peeping from my sandals at BlogHer this summer, another Greenie may pounce on me. On the other hand, I want to look cute during the conference. Help me out, got any ideas for a more environmentally friendly toenail polish?"
Lisa, you're in luck. You don't have to give up those pretty toes...nor do you have to feel guily about them. Here are a bunch of eco-savvy options for painting your piggies:
- Zoya nail polish is formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate free.
- Honeybee Gardens water-based nail polish contains NO FD&C colors, toluene, dibutyl phthalate, xylene, or formaldehyde and it can be removed with rubbing alcohol rather than the traditional uber-toxic nail polish remover.
- Priti nail polish are toluene, dibutyl phthalate, and formaldehyde free.
- Piggy Paint nail polish is especially designed for kids. It's odorless, water-based formula is formaldehyde, toluene, phthalates, biphenyl A, ethyl acetate and acetone free.
