Friday food news roundup

Food news from around the web for your weekend reading.

Read more: CLIMATE CHANGE, OBAMA, ORGANIC RESTAURANTS, SUSTAINABILITY

It’s Friday afternoon, and that means it’s time for me to give you a little weekend reading from around the web. Here are a few food related items that I thought might interest you.

I’ve written about il Buco, a sustainable NYC restaurant before. If you’re in the NoHo neighborhood this Sunday, you’ll want to stop by il Buco for their annual pig roast and their 15th anniversary celebration. All of the food served will come from local, sustainable farms, and they will be using only biodegradable and compostable paper goods, cutlery and drinking cups during the event. The cost is $20 a plate. For more information, visit il Buco’s events page.

For a look at yesterday’s White House Farmers Market opening, head on over to Twilight Earth. My friend Adam was there for the opening ceremonies and he has some pictures and comments.

Come back on Monday, too. I’ll be interviewing Adam over the weekend for more information on yesterday’s event.

The New York Times wine column The Pour warns us that climate change may be affecting France’s wine regions.

Climate change poses a critical threat to French wine regions, and Burgundy in particular, according to a new report from the environmental organization Greenpeace.

If climate change continues at its current pace through 2100, the report suggests, vineyards worldwide will be displaced by 1,000 kilometers to the north or south depending on which hemisphere they are in, and a swath of Mediterranean vineyards will be lost.

Are you near San Francisco? Do you like beer? If so, you can join the Get ZeroWasted Pub Crawl this Saturday, September 18th, from 4 – 8pm sponsored by Green & Tonic. This sounds like a lot of fun.

Join Green & Tonic for a fun and eco-friendly pub crawl through the three greenest bars in the mission: Doc's Clock, Casanova and Elixir.

Drink specials start out with $2 Anderson Valley beers from 4-6pm at Doc's Clock. That's right, only $2!!!

Casanova Lounge is offering $2.50 pints of Trumer Pils, Pyramid, Fat Tire, Sierra, Racer 5 and Anchor Steam until 7pm!

For more information, visit the Get ZeroWasted Pub Crawl events page on Facebook.

Enjoy your weekend!
