Casa Noble Crystal Organic Tequila

Tequila goes all-natural for Earth Day or any day cocktails.

Wed, Apr 14 2010 at 9:28 AM EST

I’m not really big on buying special products in honor of Earth Day. I'm firmly convinced that the day is about doing, not buying. However, I’m always up for trying a new organic spirit, so when Casa Noble contacted me and asked if I’d like to sample their Crystal Organic Tequila for an Earth Day cocktail, I took them up on it.

Casa Noble is a USDA certified organic tequila. I was also sent a sample of agave nectar to mix with the tequila for margaritas. The tequila was smooth, and I don’t find too many tequilas to be smooth. I used the recipe that came along with the samples to make a margarita that, like many of the beverages I’m sent to review, I took out to the neighborhood for the grown ups to taste test.

I was sent only enough tequila to make one and a half recipes, and I used it all at once (except for the small first sip I took). Unfortunately, the consensus on the block was that the cocktail smelled flowery – the agave I was sent to mix the tequila with was super sweet. It overpowered the tequila in the drink both in smell and taste. If I had more tequila, I would have tried a different recipe.

The tequila itself was a good, smooth tequila with a pleasant taste, however, I’d definitely try a different mixer for cocktails. There are few organic tequilas on the market, and if you’re a tequila drinker that wants to do right by the earth, an organic tequila like Casa Noble is worth a try.
