I’ve got a fun video for you this Wednesday morning.
Take a look at what the crew at Willow Garage, a company that aims “to lay the groundwork for the use of personal robotics applications in everyday life” has done to make their work time more productive.
If I could have a robot that could do things for me, I’m petty sure this would not be the first thing I’d request. Laundry would probably be first on the list. Then, vacuuming. Weeding the garden would rank high up on the list, too.
However, if I were to show this video to my husband (or come to think of it, my buddies Dori and Val over at More Hip Than Hippie), I’m sure the first words I’d hear would be “I gotta get me one of those!

I love beer as much as the next person, but I don't think beer drinking at work will help with productivity or professionalism.

The Ballmer Peak is achieved when the BAC content of a programmer reaches a certain level; when a developer is experiencing the Ballmer Peak the quality of their code is significantly higher. It's documented.

I may not be a beer drinker, and maybe I would prefer a robot that does laundry, vacuuming, dishes, or cooking (I'd rather walk up the stairs for a soda than do the chores), but I'm glad to see that some people are making full use of and getting some enjoyment out of robotics technology. I still don't believe we'll ever have a Rosie living in our houses like the Jetsons, but we may at some point have something that can do a few of our chores (or at least make them easier, look at the remote....
