Stephen Amell, the super-fit actor who plays a superhero on The CW's "Arrow," would like all the dudes out there to know that's it's totally cool to be crazy about wine.
The 33-year-old has just released the first teaser trailer for his new web series "Dudes Being Dudes in Wine Country," a nationwide romp that features visits to some of North America's lesser-known, but rising, wine-producing regions. Amell, along with his friend Andrew Harding, co-founded their own winery in 2013 called Nocking Point — a business venture driven purely by a passion for the vine.
"We haven't been interested in any preconceived notion of the wine industry or what it is or isn't supposed to be," Amell said back in October. "We were just two buddies that wanted to create a winery in our image, which sounds like a weird thing to say but that's how we've gone about it."
Amell, already a big supporter of using his fame to help others, leverages Nocking Point to support charities. Organizations close to both men's hearts regularly benefit from auctions and tasting parties, with more than $100,000 raised in 2014. In honor of his mother's fight against cancer, Amell also donates a portion of each bottle sold to the group F---Cancer.
With "Dudes in Wine Country," Amell is setting out to create a series that's less pretentious and more pure fun, stating right off the bat that he and his co-founder are complete rookies in the industry.
"They aren't trained in the sciences of enology and viticulture," the series' Facebook page shares. "They don't come from a pedigree of world-class winemaking families. 'Dudes Being Dudes in Wine Country' takes you on the road with them as they seek to satisfy their own growing curiosities about the world of wine by exploring the world's newest wine regions that produce the best wines of our near future. You're going to see first-hand how great wine really happens."
Go along for the ride this coming March. Check out the teaser trailer below.
