Every year, more and more websites and blogs are pulling April Fool's jokes. I found a few food themed ones that you might want to check out from yesterday.

Grist had a little fun with McDonald’s yesterday. They ran a headline that read “McDonald’s scraps composting program because food won’t decompose.” They covered their backsides properly, though. All of the links inside the piece led you to a page that said, “April Fool’s Day, Suckas!”

McDonald's announced this morning that it would discontinue plans for a worldwide composting initiative after scientists confirmed that no item on the McDonald's menu is compostable.

The Daily Green reported that New York farmer’s market shoppers got in a fight over the season’s first rhubarb. There’s a rather unnecessary insult to New Jersey at the end of the piece so I almost didn’t include it. But hey, who doesn’t like a good locavore scam.

Union Square Market was a bustle of activity as the sky cleared up and the sun came out yesterday afternoon. The season's first ramp and spinach supplies were a sight to be seen. It had been a long winter of root vegetables for locavores, and there was a definite feeling of excitement among shoppers. Until things got ugly.

Ben & Jerry’s offers virtual ice cream. I think I’ll stick with the Chocolate Macadamia I have in my freezer, thank you very much.

Our amazing new invention allows you to taste a scoop of Ben & Jerry’s on your PC just by licking the screen!

There you have it. Some food themed April Fool’s jokes. How do you think they held up to last year’s jokes?
