To become a certified green business in Santa Monica, Pourtal was built using green building materials like FSC-certified wood, dual-flush toilets and recycled glass countertops. Pourtal recycles its corks and prints its menus and wine lists on 100 percent post-consumer waste recycled paper. In addition to offering a wide array of organic, local and biodynamic wines, the wine bar also hosts a happy hour where a percentage of the sales are donated to various humanitarian and environmental charities. Many of Pourtal’s employees keep it green by walking, bussing or biking to the bar.
