You aren’t going impress anyone when you open the hood because it's electric,” he added.

The Library Alehouse

Santa Monica, Calif.
Since opening this spot in 1995, Alehouse owner David Lackman has whole-heartedly demonstrated a commitment to running an environmentally sound business by implementing such eco-measures as purchasing sustainably certified restaurant equipment and FSC-rated wood for the dining furniture, composting its kitchen waste, recycling its used fryer oil into biodiesel and eschewing Styrofoam long before the city outlawed it. Patrons can dine on a menu filled with dishes made from seasonal and local organic ingredients while sipping on a variety of local California beers and organic wines.
