The deliciously devastating ginger firewater is not for the faint of heart.
Prep time: 10 minutes
Total time: Up to 1 week minimum
- 3 thumb-sized pieces of fresh ginger
- 10 cardamom pods, cracked
- 2 cups vodka
Prep ginger. Scrub and peel using the rounded edge of a spoon to rub off tough outer skin. Cut into thin sections. Place pods on cutting board, press down with the flat side of knife until pods crack. Place in sealable glass jar. Add vodka and shake. Store in cool dark place for a week to 10 days. Taste, and let steep for one week more week for optimal flavor.
Using a metal sieve, strain contents into a 1-quart jar. Store up to six months in cool dark place, or freezer indefinitely.
