  • Not just in California anymore
  • Red Tail Ridge Winery, Penn Yan, N.Y.
  • Black Ankle Vineyards, Mount Airy, Md.
  • Shelburne Vineyard, Shelburne, Vt.
  • McRitchie Winery and Ciderworks, Thurmond, N.C.
  • Heron Hill Winery, Hammondsport, N.Y.
  • Crossing Vineyards and Winery, Washington Crossing, Pa.
  • DuCard Vineyards, Etlan, Va.
  • Shinn Estate Vineyards, Mattituck, N.Y.
Most of the news about sustainable wineries seems to come from out West, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t some green wine action going on back East, too. Several East Coast vineyards use organic or biodynamic methods, and a few even go above and beyond with green buildings and other eco-practices. Oh, and did we mention, several also produce award-winning wines that definitely warrant a sip or two or three?

Having been to 3 of these wineries and working at one, I am very excited about the honor of being chosen as one of the top eco-friendly East Coast wineries! We work very hard at trying to do as much eco-friendly things as possible!
