Waste: A Resource out of Place

At MillerCoors, our goal is to produce zero waste in our brewery operations. See how our reduce, reuse, recycle approach is helping make this goal a reality.

[Transcript]
At Miller Coors, we’ve long believed that waste is just a resource out of place. We strive to maintain a reduce, reuse, and recycle approach to help us move towards zero waste in our brewery operations.

We have areas set up conveniently around the brewery to collect waste, the cans, the bottles, the cardboard. We don’t want to waste them.

Instead of sending our waste to a landfill, we’re finding ways to reuse or recycle them. Plastic from barrels used in the brewing process is shredded for use in garden and lawn applications.

We have also found ways to use byproducts for the benefit of our local brewery communities. Leftover barley malt is sold to local farmers for animal feed.

We are focused on driving packaging sustainability.

As an example, we save the equivalent of 622 tons of aluminum per year when we reduce the diameter of some of our aluminum can ends. Through our partnership with Recycle Bank, Miller Coors encourages the responsible disposal of packaging and recyclable products by giving customers redeemable points for recycling, which can then be used to buy Miller Coors branded gear.

With making great beer, it has a great responsibility behind it. It calls for us to reduce our footprint and become good corporate citizens.

At Miller Coors, we brew great beer, and we believe that with great beer comes great responsibility.
