Video: Creme brulee

It's time to start thinking about Valentine's Day dinner. I like to think about dessert first.

My husband and I don't go eat to eat on Valentine's Day. We met when we were both waiting tables at the same restaurant, and we remember how much we hated working on that holiday. I'd much rather make some of our favorite, special foods, set up a table in front of the fireplace, and have dinner in our own home.

I love creme brulee. Creme brulee simply means burnt cream. It seems like a difficult dish to make, but it's not. It's also a perfect dessert for Valentine's Day because it an be made earlier in the day (or even the day before) and simply finished off with a kitchen blow torch or put under the broiler right before serving. All of the ingredients for creme brulee should be easy to find in their organic form, so you can make this into an organic recipe if you want.

The best way to learn how to make this delicious, decadent dessert is to watch someone make it. Marc Bauer from The French Culinary Institute shows us how to make it in this thorough, step by step video. The best thing about this video is Bauer's French accent. Don't you think if someone is going to teach you how to make creme brulee, he should be French? I love how he says "veeneela."
