Excellent answers
Posted By josh bigs - Thu, Sep 02 2010 at 6:57 AM ESTAll those little packets of food look interesting to me. In England the school meals are not very good either, although Jamie Oliver did try and get a campaign going to improve them but I fear with all the budget cuts under this lib/con government the cost of the healthier food will mean the revert to the cheap, more unhealthy stuff.

School Lunches
Posted By maxik21 - Fri, Aug 27 2010 at 11:33 PM ESTI remembered when I attended school in New York. Back then we had great school lunch program. It didn't taste all that good, but it was healthy. We need to go back to those days instead of tv watching, game playing and MTV with their rap video girls

Posted By georgeland23 - Sun, Jul 11 2010 at 7:58 PM ESTIt's wonderful to see what she's doing for our school lunches. I have a 4-yr-old who will be starting school soon and lunches is actually something I was a bit worried about. We've tried hard to teach him healthy habits and I don't want that to get ruined. landlords insurance

Posted By Anonymous - Tue, Jun 22 2010 at 5:34 PM ESTI know that I feel bad about myself when I eat food I know is bad for my body. The last thing that the kids from my school need is to feel even worse about their circumstances.

School lunches and expired food
Posted By Lunch Monitor - Mon, Mar 15 2010 at 9:56 AM ESTI am really appalled at the amount of lip service paid to current Health Initiatives. I work at a school in Upstate NY. Our school lunches are so unhealthy and I have personally seen the kitchen staff re-package expired yogurt and send it to one of our neighboring schools for children with special needs. The yogurt is taken out of the original containers and put in containers with no expiration dates. Our kitchen on many occasions serves out of date milk also. We have a high number of.... More

Dead food vs live food
Posted By graceonline - Fri, Jan 22 2010 at 12:35 PM ESTThe school lunch program may ease immediate hunger, but it contributes to childhood obesity and the development of poor eating habits.
My daughter's elementary school had a lunch-time program honoring a student from each classroom each week. Parents were invited to lunch with the child on the day of the award, and I was fortunate to attend a few of these over the years.

I want to point out an upcoming opportunity to help improve school lunches. Congress is revising the Child Nutrition Act, which currently makes no provision for vegetarian foods. We need to ask Congress to help schools serve more fruits, vegetables, vegetarian foods. You can get involved in a campaign that’s working to do just that: .... More
