The Good Human is reporting that the small town of Bundanoon in Australia is aggressively tackling the unnecessary use of bottled water. The 2,000 residents will not be able to buy bottled water at stores in the town.
Additionally, local businesses will have to refill any reusable water bottles for free, and the town will be installing water fountains on Main Street.
As David from the Good Human observes, this “will only have a small impact locally, but it could have big repercussions around the rest of the world.”
Bundanoon is taking the lead. Let’s hope other towns and cities follow.

Love this, partially because of the water-bottle banning, but also because I passed through Bundanoon 20+ years ago while backpacking round Aussie. Wonderful town, banks open for 4 hours/week, main store for 3 hours/day. Just goes to show, you don't have to be a city to be civilised :)

I wish everyone was more knowledgeable of the negative repercussions that bottled water has. The use of reusable bottles makes much more sense. Add your commentSign in with one of these accounts or just add your comment below. |
