Vegans and the lactose-intolerant rejoice. Beginning in August, Whole Foods customers will be able to purchase soymilk that has been certified non-genetically modified by the Non-GMO Project. The soymilk will be made with organic soybeans grown only in the United States and will be certified not to be grown from genetically modified seeds.

Smart Balance, Inc. will produce the soymilk and sell it under its Earth Balance brand. It will be available exclusively at Whole Foods Markets throughout 2010.

The soymilk will be available in original, vanilla, chocolate and unsweetened flavors. The packaging for the new product will contain a recipe from Alicia Silverstone’s “The Kind Diet.”
