First NYC Vegetarian Food Festival coming in April

Event organizers hoping to attract vegans, vegetarians, flexitarians, locavores and general foodies.

Attention New Yorkers! On April 3, a long-overdue gathering of vegetarian food companies, restaurants, and health and wellness vendors will congregate at the Altman Building on West 18th for the first NYC Vegetarian Food Festival!

And bring your appetite, because guess what? The entire event is free — and organizers are promising plenty of delicious, plant-centric samples to taste and enjoy.

Sarah Gross, founder of Rescue Chocolate (which donates 100 percent of net profits to animal rescue organizations around the country), and Nira Paliwoda, event planner and foodie, combined forces to organize the event. As mentioned above, they're hoping to attract all shades of the foodie spectrum. There will also be world-class speakers, live music, and fun food contests throughout the day.

"New York has been desperately needing an event to shine the spotlight on the area's vibrant vegan food producers, restaurants and luminaries. This festival will bring the whole spectrum of vegetarian foods, nutrition experts, celebrity chefs, and inspirational lifestyle coaches together in one place," Gross said.

Hungry yet? Check out the official event website for more info here.

I'm very excited about the Vegetarian Food Festival! I'll be there for sure tomorrow! Vegetarian or Vegan is the healthy way to go... everybody wins!

I am all for supporting healthy eating habits which will in turn donate to animal causes. I am 100 lbs not because I diet, I do not do that, is because I eat healthy and have 3 dogs. Thus, my body and my soul are positively nourished.
CONGRATS to the Festival!
