Got questions?
If you've got questions, I just might have the answers. You need to ask them first, though.

Organic Cooking, Whole Foods
I was thinking about some of the terms I use in my posts. Locavore. Genetically modified. Organic. Whole foods. Sustainable. It occurred to me that just because I understand these terms, it doesn't mean that everyone does.

I want to invite my readers to ask any questions they may have about my posts. Leave your questions in the comments. I will do my best to answer them. If all it takes is a short answer, I'll answer back in the comments. If it's something that takes a bit more of an explanation, I'll turn it into a post. I'm happy to do question and answer pieces.

Don't limit your questions to the terms I use, though. Feel free to ask anything pertaining to eco-friendly foods, cooking, kitchens... anything you think fits with the topic of this blog. If it's something I don't know, I'll try to find it out. That's the former teacher in me. I love to find the answers to other people's questions. I learn a lot that way.

So if you've got questions, bring 'em on.

For the past year or so I've been using reusable grocery bags in an effort to cut down on the amount of plastic bags we take in. The other day at the grocery store I brought along my usual bags and at checkout heard my husband say "you're saving the earth with these reusable bags but you've got a pound of plastic in it." The plastic he was referring to was the little bags I put the fruit and vegetables in in the produce department. I've heard the conveyer belt in stores hold the most germs in the

store and I always wash my food before using but do you have any ideas on ways to cut down the on the plastic in that department??? *Side Note: I also use these bags to prevent the various juices that often leak from the meat packages out into my bags as well. Suggestions??

So, Robin, I'm a gardening idiot. I just moved into a new house in Iowa (agricultural mecca) with a big backyard and think I need to use some of this land to have a garden. But I don't know where to begin. I mean, literally, not a clue. What to plant, how to plant it, how to get the soil ready, how to decide where in the yard to put it, how to keep from killing everything . . .

You asked for questions! Can you help me out here?
