Holiday items to donate to the food bank

Attending an event where non-perishable items for the food bank are being collected at the door this holiday season? Think outside the soup can and donate one of these items

This time of year, when you attend a community event, concert, sporting event and school activities, you’re often asked to bring a long a canned good or other non-perishable item to donate to a local food pantry. It’s easy to grab a can of soup or box of pasta out of the pantry, but my local food bank has a list of items that are specifically needed during the holiday.

If you’re taking an item to donate to a food bank at this time of year, here’s a list that food banks need around Christmas.

Stuffing mix
Cranberry sauce
Instant mashed potatoes
Canned yams
Gravy
Pie crust mix
Canned pie filling

Of course, all donations are welcome at food banks this time of year, or any time of year.
