Illustrating the rules of food
Maira Kalman, artist for Michael Pollan’s new illustrated edition of ‘Food Rules,’ shares her thoughts on food and her inspirations for her illustrations in the book.

Early in 2010, Michael Pollan released “Food Rules,” 64 simple rules for eating that answer the question, “What should I eat?” The book was a best seller, and last month, a new, illustrated edition of “Food Rules” was released with a new introduction and 19 new food rules.
Artist Maira Kalman did the colorful, joyful illustrations for the new edition, and she talks about the process in this video.
