Either I’m missing something or the natural and organic Halloween chocolate candy choices haven’t changed since I started writing about the choices three years ago. If this list looks similar to my past lists, it’s because it is.

These aren’t the only options for individually wrapped chocolates that could be handed to trick-or-treaters, but they’re the only ones I found that are reasonably priced for the holiday. I just don’t feel right linking to mini peanut butter cups that run $8 for 5 pieces, even if they are organic or fair trade.

Endangered Species All Natural Halloween Treats or Organic Bug Bites – Endangered Species makes small milk or dark individually wrapped chocolate square that are .35 oz each. Their Halloween Treats ($6.99 for 24 pieces or $44.99 for 160 pieces) are all-natural, certified gluten-free, vegan and kosher. Their Organic Bug Bites ($33.99 for 64 pieces) are also certified organic and Non-GMO verified. Some of Endangered Species profits go back to wildlife conservation. If you order the Bug Bites, from now until October 16, 2011, use the coupon code BITES15 for 15 percent off.

Divine Spooky Milk Chocolate Balls – These individually foiled wrapped balls are perfect for Halloween with pumpkin, eyeball, and skeleton designs. The balls are made from several Fair Trade certified ingredients. These spooky treats are made by Divine – one of my boys’ favorite milk chocolate makers. ($4.95 for 3.5 oz bag of individually wrapped chocolate balls).

Equal Exchange Dark Chocolate Minis – These mini candy bars are dark chocolate, but not too dark for most kids – 55 percent. The cocao and sugar come from fairly traded farmer co-ops, and they are vegan and free from soy and gluten. ($29.75 for 150 minis).

Let me know if I’m missing a responsible, reasonably priced chocolate Halloween treat.
