Before strawberry season is gone, treat the kids to a frozen strawberry daiquiri that they can drink.

I went strawberry picking on Monday, and it's clear that around here strawberry season is coming to an end. There were lots of strawberries close to the ground already gathering mold, and it took quite a while to pick a basket full of good ones. Since fresh, local strawberries will be coming to an end in the next week or two (at least around me), I thought I'd post one last seasonal recipe for them. This time it's a special, once in a while treat for the kids - a strawberry daiquiri that's just as good without the rum as it is with it.
This isn't a traditional strawberry daiquiri recipe - it's got a few things added. It's taken from Allrecipes.com
6 cups ice
1/2 cup white sugar
4 ounces fresh or frozen strawberries
1/8 cup lime juice
1/2 cup lemon juice
3/4 cup rum (leave out for the kids, of course)
1/4 cup lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage (try to chose one made without high fructose corn syrup)
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into glasses - frosted mugs would add to the fun for the kids - and enjoy.
