Last night, I returned from four days at the BlogHer Food conference in Atlanta. The conference just happened to be held across the street from the Mother Nature Network offices, so I had the opportunity to pop in for about an hour and visit with my co-workers before the oh-so enjoyable and educational madness of the conference began. I’ll have a lot to share with you about the conference over the next week or so, and I’m beginning with the tasting party I attended for Stonyfield Organic Frozen Yogurt Bars.
Brandi from Bran Appetit hosted a tasting for about a dozen bloggers in her hotel room on the night I arrived. Think junior high pajama party without all the meanness, and you’ve got a good picture of what it was like in her hotel room. It was fun meeting fellow food bloggers, but you want to know about the Stonyfield Organic Frozen Yogurt Bars, so let's get down to it.
Stonyfield has taken two of its organic frozen yogurt flavors, Gotta Have Vanilla and After Dark Chocolate, stuck them on a stick, and covered them with organic dark chocolate. Are they good? I think there was consensus from all the women in the room: yes, they are good.
I loved the After Dark Chocolate bar (pictured at right in pieces so we could all sample). The frozen yogurt inside was smooth, creamy, and perfectly chocolatey and the chocolate coating was delicious. The Gotta Have Vanilla bars were also very good, but the vanilla frozen yogurt was less creamy than the chocolate, with more of an ice milk texture than a creamy ice cream texture. After we all tasted a little of each bar, we got to choose a whole bar to enjoy. I, of course, went with the After Dark Chocolate.
With eight grams of fat (the yogurt is non-fat, but the chocolate coating is not) and 170 calories each, these bars will make a yummy once-in-a-while summertime treat. They’re also USDA certified organic. Right now, Stonyfield’s Organic Frozen Yogurt bars are available at Whole Foods.
Have you had a chance to try these bars yet? What do you think of them?
