For me, the best infographics are ones that teach me something. I know quite a bit about food waste, but I learned more from Face the Facts USA’s Food Waste and Hunger infographic.
The amount of food wasted keeps going up while the number of people considered food insecure keeps going up, too.

The statistic that astounds me the most is the last one. Industrialized countries waste almost as much food as is produced in sub-Saharan Africa. I’m not sure how to get the food that’s wasted into the mouths of the people who need it, but it’s really startling to see the numbers.

The human food that is culled for quality reasons and fed to livestock might get classified as "waste". Cattle can safely eat partly rotten potatoes that I wouldn't buy. But do those potatoes count as waste?
