Poached Pears in White Wine Sauce
A simple addition with a seasonal ingredient in the starring role.
- 3 Bosc pears, halved, cored and peeled
- 6 ounces white wine
- 6 ounces orange juice
- 6 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 ounces brandy
- Pinch saffron spice
Prep time: 10 minutes
Total time: 50 minutes
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Combine the liquid ingredients, brown sugar and cinnamon in a mixing bowl.
Place pears facedown in a baking dish so they are barely touching. Add the syrup. Cook for 30 minutes.
Remove pears from heat. Set aside.
To make the sauce, pour liquid contents into a saucepan. Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Pour over poached pears.
