Here’s the theory behind detox diets: Our bodies are expose to a variety of toxins — from air pollution and pesticides to caffeine and alcohol — and these toxins build up in our bodies causing bloating, fatigue and other ailments. Supposedly, detox diets cleanse the gastrointestinal tract and liver of these toxins, making us healthier, rejuvenated people.
