The Fruit Flush is a three-day detox diet that was created by nutritionist Jay Robb. According to Robb, the specific combination of fruits and other natural foods in the diet naturally flush toxins out of the body because of their high water and fiber content.
On the first day of the diet, followers consume a sugar-free protein drink every two hours and then eat a meal of raw vegetables and lean protein, such as fish, chicken or eggs, for dinner. On the second and third days of the Fruit Flush, participants consumer certain fruits — cantaloupe, strawberries, mangoes and apples — every two hours, and dinner consists of more raw vegetables and another protein drink.
Who’s used it? When a Baltimore news station followed reporter Donna Hamilton’s Fruit Flush experience, the story became one of the station’s most popular segments and inspired a slew of fruit-flushing followers. Salma Hyek followed her own version of a juice-based, fruit-flush diet to lose baby weight.
