Sports stadiums

Most ballpark food vendors aren’t out hawking healthy hot dogs and hamburgers — in fact most offer anything but healthy food. Still, a few stadiums are beginning to think green — and what better way to an eco-conscious sports fan's heart than through his stomach?

Houston’s LEED-certified Toyota Center — home of the Houston Rockets  — offers 100 percent organic Dakota Beef burgers and hot dogs during basketball games and at on-site restaurants. Seattle Mariners baseball fans can choose to chow down on organic and vegetarian options from Safeco Field’s “The Natural” concession stand.

And bicycle-racing aficionados will find plenty of organic delights, including pizza, nachos, hot dogs and even snow cones, at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center in Trexlertown, Penn. (The center was originally built by the Rodale publishing family, who galvanized the organnic and natural-living movement.)
