Spotlight on diversity: Multicultural workforce makes Aflac a stronger company
For Aflac, diversity in the workforce isn't just a matter of equality and human dignity; it's a crucial component of the company's success. Aflac is consistently recognized as one of the most diverse companies in the United States, not to mention one of the best places to work. That's because the company is made up of many different groups, including 40 percent minorities and 70 percent women.
In this video, Aflac employees Brenda Mullins and Lanita Lucas tell us about how the company works to highlight and honor the diversity of its employees. Each month, Aflac's diversity celebration has a different focus, like gender diversity, military day, working parents day, African American history and Hispanic culture.
Aflac's Diversity Week began as a one-day event, but has been expanded to accommodate a broad range of activities including a taste tour, when employees bring in dishes from various cultures. Not only does Aflac's workforce get to learn about each other's lives and cultures, they have a lot of fun doing it.
"We want to show our employees that we are an inclusive environment," says Lucas. "That we care about you as an individual, we care about your culture."
