Stocking stuffers for sustainable foodies

Want to stuff your favorite foodie’s Christmas stocking full of gifts that are sustainable? I’ve got some ideas for you that won’t break the bank.
Coffee cup glove - Keep your hands cool and your coffee warm with a little bit of style, and maybe save some trees while you're at it! This reusable coffee sleeve from Glue and Glitter’s Etsy’s shop is made from vintage and revamped materials and fit most standard sized coffee cups from small/tall to large/venti. $8.
Taza stoneground organic chocolate – There are lots of great organic chocolates out there, but Taza’s chocolates are different enough to make them special enough to stick in a stocking. I reviewed the Cinnamon Chocolate Mexicano a few weeks ago, and I really liked it, but if you were going to stick one of these chocolate disks in my stocking, I’d appreciate the Salted Almond Chocolate Mexicano. $4.50.
Food, Inc. DVD – The movie that has grabbed the attention of the general public (and my husband) and gotten them to “never look at dinner the same way” is now available on DVD and would make a great stocking stuffer. $13.49.

Recycled pottery wine bottle stoppers – These beautiful wine bottle stoppers from Paloma Pottery are made using recycled glass and pottery. They come in a variety of colors and each handmade stopper is unique. $15.08.Don’t forget your local food producers. You’ll have to hunt these down for yourself, but here are a few ideas for you to support local while filling your foodies stocking. Prices will vary on these.

- A gift certificate to a local, independent, sustainable restaurant
- A jar of locally produced honey or preserves

Fair Trade Chocolate?
Is the Taza chocolate fair trade? A quick skim of their About Us profile seems to indicate a social conscientiousness in production. I think that's worth checking and mentioning!
