International Sunflower Guerilla Gardening Day

Last year, I alerted you to International Sunflower Guerilla Gardening Day. Each year on May 1, people worldwide scatter sunflower seeds in empty lots, bare city spots, neighbors’ yards, and anywhere else that strikes their fancy. My boys and I (see photo above) planted them all over our town at friends’ houses and outside our favorite coffee house last year, and we’ll be secretly planting sunflowers again this year. Why don't you join us from wherever you are?
In many places, guerilla gardening is considered illegal because it can be considered vandalism, but the chances of getting into trouble with the local authorities for planting seeds are pretty small.
This year’s International Sunflower Guerilla Gardening Day is going to be bigger than ever. Thousands of people have pledged on Facebook to participate. Just in case the concept of secretly planting sunflowers eludes you, Richard Reynolds, founder of GuerillaGardening.org has created this instructional video for you.
