Happy Fourth of July. I’m last-minute planning for a celebration tonight, and I’m sure many of you are, too. So to help us all out, I’ve rounded up some recipes we have here on MNN that would be great for a Fourth of July picnic or BBQ. You already know how to grill a burger and boil corn on the cob, so many of these recipes aren’t your standard BBQ fare, but will be good additions to the traditional dishes.

  • 5 Watermelon Cocktails – Watermelon is a staple on Fourth of July. Sure, it’s fun to bite into and spit out the seeds, but it also is a great foundation for lots of grown-up drinks.
  • Blackberry Cocktail – Another cocktail that uses summer’s best fruits for fresh flavor.
  • Sangria Blanca – Grand Marnier, not wine, gives this fruity punch recipe its “punch.”
  • Citrus Sangria – A more traditional Sangria that uses red wine, this will make enough for a small party.

  • Basic Guacamole – Not just for Cinco de Mayo, this dip is a crowd pleaser.
  • Heart Smart Spinach Dip – Everyone loves spinach dip. This recipe has less fat than some others.
  • Homemade Ranch Dip – Another dip that people gravitate to, this delicious ranch dip can be used for dipping everything from chips to veggies and it even doubles as a salad dressing.

  • Grilled Maple Brined Pork Chops – Easy and delicious, these pork chops are another option for guests who are already suffering from summer burger and hot dog burn out.
  • Grilled Vegetarian Pizza – Offer the vegetarians at the celebration this easy pizza option made on focaccia bread. The non-vegetarians are going to want some, too.
  • Veggie Burgers – Ten recipes for meatless burgers. White Bean and Sweet Potato burger, anyone? Sounds pretty good.
