Michelle Obama wins cookie bake-off
It was a close call, but the First Lady's cookie recipe won the day.

I love how food has a way of seeping into other facets of our life. With the White House brewing its own beer, Michelle Obama starting a garden on the grounds of the White House and her involvement in raising awareness about children obesity, food and politics have had their fair share of intermingling lately. Now I find out that there is a election tradition of a cookie bake-off between the wives of those running. It is hosted every election by the Family Circle.

This results are in and it looks like Michelle Obama won by the smallest margin in the cookie bake-off history with her White and Dark Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe with Ann Romney only trailing slightly with her M & M Cookie recipe. The interesting thing is that 4 out of 5 times, the cookie bake-off has actually predicted who won the upcoming election. So, if the results are any indication, it is going to be a close call.

In that sense, this bake-off seems to be more of a popularity contest then a true bake-off. But regardless both recipes sound delicious (and decidedly unhealthy!). Last election, Michelle's Shortbread Cookie recipe lost to Cindy McCain's Butterscotch Cookies, giving us the only year that the bake-off results didn't match election results.

It's going to be an interesting election!
