Here's an interesting way to find something new to cook up in the new year: One of my go-to recipe sites, Allrecipes.com, allows users to search the most popular recipes posted from each state. Keep in mind these aren't the recipes searched for the most in each state by home cooks; rather they're recipes posted by people in each state that have gained popularity on the site.

Below you'll find recipes from home cooks from each state posted on Allrecipes.com, recipes that users from all over the country give a high rating. Maybe one of them will grab your attention and become the first new recipe you try in the new year. I can personally attest to the yumminess of the New Jersey pick, a tuna melt! And, I've modified Jamie's Minestrone from California for the slow cooker and added Parmesan rinds while it cooks to make an already fabulous soup even better.

Allrecipes is one of the very first places I go when I'm looking for a new recipe because of the reviews and star ratings given by home cooks. I'm almost guaranteed to make something my family will like if I take the time to read the reviews before choosing to make it. We may not decide it's a keeper, but it won't go to waste.

Other recipes from the site that my family loves are the Slow Cooker French Dip and the Homemade Pizza Sauce. I've tweaked them both a little bit, but they were both good to start with.
