Forget the bland bottled dressings, this blue cheese dressing is great for salads, vegetable dip, and buffalo wings and has incredible flavor.

If you’re going to make buffalo wings at home, you have to do it really well. We decided one night we wanted to make boneless buffalo bites for a weekend treat, and we wanted to do it from scratch with ingredients we trusted. We followed a recipe for Boneless Buffalo Wings found on Allrecipes. It’s perfect. I won’t change a thing next time I make them.
We also chose to make our own blue cheese dipping sauce. The blue cheese sauce is just as important as the chicken as far as I’m concerned. I remembered that when I first made homemade ranch dip
a couple of years ago, someone suggested that adding blue cheese to it would make it a great dip for wings. They were right. I halved the recipe for the dip, tweaked the spices just a bit, and added some blue cheese crumbles. Then I added more blue cheese crumbles. Then I added more until the dip was incredibly thick and there was no mistaking it was blue cheese.
Here’s the final recipe I came up with. A few days later, when I went to use the leftovers as a dip for vegetables, the blue cheese flavor was even stronger. Use the best ingredients you can for this dip – organic mayonnaise, organic or locally produced sour cream and buttermilk, and fresh herbs when called for.
¼ c mayonnaise
¼ c sour cream
¼ c buttermilk
1 ½ tsp fresh, finely chopped parsley
1 tsp fresh, chopped chives
1/8 tsp garlic powder
1/8 tsp onion powder
1/8 tsp salt
1/8 tsp ground black pepper
6 oz of very good crumbled blue cheese (you can use more or less depending on your personal taste)
Combine all ingredients and allow to sit in the refrigerator for four or more hours for the flavors to combine. The blue cheese flavor will go stronger as the days go on.
