Today is National Watermelon Day. This summer, I’ve been doing a lot more with watermelon than just slicing and eating it. I’ve made slushees, cocktails, and I’ve used watermelon in salads. One thing I haven’t tried yet is to make a granita – a frozen treat that’s easy to make but does take a little attention every half or so for a few hours while it freezes.

If this sounds good, you can watch The Frugal Chef make watermelon granita. You can make it any time you have fresh watermelon, not just on National Watermelon Day.

Have you ever made granite? What fruits have you used?
