Spring is the perfect time for salads, especially since so many delicious vegetables are in season. As a result, we’ve compiled a collection of spring salad recipes that we thought would be ideal on a spring afternoon.

Here are six ideas for spring salad recipes, including several unique combinations with unusual ingredients:

Homemade Ranch Dressing and Dip
If you’re going to make your own salad, why not make a healthy ranch dressing to go with it? It’s especially delicious with various spring greens (spinach, lettuce) and the true baby carrots that are harvested in the spring. Read more: Homemade Ranch Dressing and Dip recipe.

Spring Salad
A bit of a hodgepodge salad, it mixes bacon, broccoli and scallions (among other ingredients) in a creamy yet crisp mix of deliciousness. Read more: Spring Salad recipe.

Green Papaya Salad
This zesty fruit and vegetable had, of course, papayas, but also green onions (scallions) and carrots, both springtime vegetables. Topped with the meat of your choice (we recommend the shrimp), this is a cool and crispy way to enjoy a salad. Read more: Green Papaya Salad recipe.

Chinese Spring Roll Salad
Not exactly a salad in your normal way of thinking of it, but this Chinese-inspired dish has you adding your salad mixes to a spring roll skin instead of a bowl. It’s salad you can eat with your hands. Read more: Chinese Spring Roll Salad recipe.

Quinoa Pilaf Salad
Another different kind of a salad for when you're looking to take a break from the usual. Mixed with apricots and scallions, and you have a tasty spring salad recipe alternative if you’ve grown weary of eating green salads every day. Read more: Quinoa Pilaf Salad recipe.

Spinach-and-Strawberry Salad
Comprised of two spring foods, this salad is a nice way to get both your fruits and vegetables in equal measure. The dressing isn’t necessary, but gives everything a nice pop. Read more: Spinach-and-Strawberry Salad recipe.
