Sustainable wine: Persimmon Creek Seyval Blanc

Last week, I wrote about a Georgia winery that has sustainability at the forefront of all it does. Persimmon Creek Vineyards, the family owned, boutique vineyard in Clayton, Ga., was kind enough to send me some wine.
Last weekend I opened a bottle of their Seyval Blanc. Don’t be surprised if you’ve never heard of Seyval Blanc; I never had either. It’s a white wine that’s crisp, light – slightly citrusy and peachy; however, it was not overly sweet, which I liked.
We had a hodge-podge of food for dinner the night I opened the Seyval Blanc – some roasted red peppers and provolone, some pork pot stickers with a soy sauce dip, a few grilled cheese sandwiches cut up into quarters, and some apple slices. That’s the type of dinner you get around here when you get back late from the pool on a Friday night and nothing has been planned. I was pleased to find that the wine paired just fine with everything and was particularly tasty with pot stickers.
This is a fabulous summer white, but I can imagine it on a chilly early fall night, too. It’s available at Sherlock’s Wine Merchants, Whole Foods Markets and Total Wine.

Ever Try Any St. James Winery (MO) Seyval?
I just got a bottle of St. James Winery Vitner's Select Seyval and it is awesome. I guess it's some local family owned winery in Missouri somewhere, I picked the bottle up from a grocery store. Probably the best tasting Seyval I've tried.
