The Earth Day Network (EDN) is counting down the 40th anniversary of Mother Nature's favorite holiday by offering a great search engine of thousands of Earth Day events around the country, searchable by keyword and zipcode.

The EDN has been gradually building what is now one of the largest global events in the world. The website explains more about the organization:

Earth Day Network has a global reach with a network of more than 17,000 partners and organizations in 174 countries. More than 1 billion people participate in Earth Day activities, making it the largest secular civic event in the world.

In addition to helping build local planet-friendly communities by their event search, they have also added a photoblog to their website and an Earth Day TV page featuring interviews with environmental gurus like Thomas Friedman, who explains why this Earth Day is so important.
