Geek extraordinaire Andrew Lim came up with these ingenious do-it-yourself virtual reality goggles. A smart phone (here it is a Vodaphone HTC Magic), a box, some duct tape and an old Viewmaster and you are good to go... to Paris, London, Beijing, wherever via a Google map mashup.
