DIY virtual reality goggles

Now you can travel to Paris with zero carbon emissions by "mashing" yourself up with Google Maps (iPhone and duct tape is required).

Fri, Oct 30 2009 at 4:47 PM EST

Geek extraordinaire Andrew Lim came up with these ingenious do-it-yourself virtual reality goggles. A smart phone (here it is a Vodaphone HTC Magic), a box, some duct tape and an old Viewmaster and you are good to go... to Paris, London, Beijing, wherever via a Google map mashup.

Essentially you are "mashing" yourself up with Google using a database of spherical VR photographs linked to a google map. Now can voyage virtually without all those pesky carbon emissions.
